Top West End singers sign up for Sunday concert! - 17-05-2008

The Northampton Town Show organising committee is delighted to announce that two top West End singers, Glyn Kerslake and Helen Hobson, will be joining the London Pops Orchestra for ‘That's Entertainment!', a picnic on the pitch extravaganza on Sunday, May 25th.

Glyn is an experienced and renowned singer in the theatre, concerts and on record. He has played the lead in Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon and Scrooge and is a regular concert singer at major venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, Barbican, Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Manchester's Bridgewater Hall and at the Cardiff International Musical Theatre Festival. Glynn is no stranger to listeners of BBC Radio Two's Friday Night Is Music Night and Songs From The Shows, and he has appeared on Classic FM, RTE Radio Dublin and BBC Radio Three. His debut solo album, ‘Don't Judge An Album By Its Cover', is currently available.

Helen Hobson is a familiar face on stage and screen. Her television credits include Heartbeat, EastEnders, Red Cap, Rosemary and Thyme, Where The Heart Is, Judge John Deed and The Bill. On stage she has appeared in many West End hits, such as Blood Brothers, Mamma Mia!, Educating Rita, Heathcliff, Tommy, Cats, My Fair Lady and Aspects of Love.

Glyn and Helen will be accompanied by the London Pops Orchestra, a 40-piece symphonic orchestra that under conductor Ian McMillan have created an irresistible fusion of energy and style. They have appeared at most of the major concert venues nation-wide including The Barbican, South Bank, The Royal Albert Hall, The London Palladium, Symphony Hall Birmingham, and St David's Hall, Cardiff. They are firm favourites at major British and International Festivals and each summer present a brilliant season of outdoor performances at many of the major National Trust Properties where they entertain audiences in excess of 15,000 with their mix of popular music, audience participation and a refreshingly relaxed style of presentation. They were awarded an ITMA Silver Medal for their Millennium Concert ‘The Great British Musical' at The Royal Albert Hall.

"We've worked with Glyn and Helen before in the West End and on Radio 2 and they are our first choice singers," said Mr McMillan. "They are the perfect soloists for this occasion. It is the first rugby ground we've played at and we're looking forward to the evening. It's not just a concert in the traditional style. It should be a relaxed, cracking event and plenty of fun for all the family!"

‘That's Entertainment!' is a three-hour extravaganza of classic number one hits, West End musicals, Pomp and Circumstance, Jerusalem and Land Of Hope and Glory and ending with a magnificent pyrotechnics display, sponsored by Church's Shoes.

Two types of tickets are available for ‘That's Entertainment!' where you can bring your blanket and hamper (these are very limited in quantity so booking early is again recommended) and stadium seats. Again all priced at £15 (adults) and £10 (juniors).

The evening's entertainment will be brought to you by Northampton Saints, Travis Perkins and Carlsberg and has been made possible by Northampton firm Fabtronic, who provide world class stage, lighting and PA systems.

Tickets are available NOW from the Saints Ticket Office. Book by calling 01604 581000.

Tickets can also be purchased from the Chronicle and Echo offices in Northampton's Market Square.
