Northamptonshire Police are reminding people that our crime prevention officers don't make cold calls or sell advertising after reports of a number of suspicious phone calls to people across Northamptonshire. There have been some reports from people around the county who have received telephone calls from companies claiming to be selling advertising on behalf of Northamptonshire Police. Some callers have also claimed that they are a crime prevention officer from the Force and want to discuss security. Northamptonshire Police do not sell advertising and our crime prevention officers never cold call. Crime Prevention Officer Kate Wright thanked the people who had rung in to tell police about the suspicious calls but gave this reassurance: "Crime prevention officers never call anyone on the phone to discuss personal matters like security and we would never come to your door without an appointment either. "No-one selling advertising or other products is calling on behalf of Northamptonshire Police and we would strongly advise that you don't give any personal or banking details to anyone you don't know on the phone."
