STATE-OF-THE-ART new processes have been put into place making joining Northamptonshire Police even easier. Transferees can now join the Force through a step-by-step online process, which makes the procedure much quicker. Potential transferees need just log on to www.northants.police.uk and follow the simple guidelines. Senior Human Resources Officer Laura Pettitt said: "It works out much quicker for the transferees. The standard process is an online application form. Once they have filled it in it comes straight to me and they will get contacted about an interview immediately." Before transferees can join up, all PCs have a fitness test, everyone has a competency based structured interview, a medical, eyesight tests and security checks are done. References are checked and previous levels of conduct, performance and attendance are assessed. Miss Pettitt said: "It's a small Force and because of that it is very friendly - everyone gets to know everyone else. "There are also more opportunities for development and we do also offer a relocation package. "The message is come and join Northamptonshire Police - we have a lot to offer." Sergeant Wayne Dowson joined the Force from Nottinghamshire Police in January and PC Leanne Curley recently joined from Bedfordshire Police. PC Curley serves on the Daventry South Safer Community Team while Sergeant Dowson works in IRT in Campbell Square. Sergeant Dowson, who has 13 years' experience as an IRT officer and in firearms, said: "The recruitment process was good. It was very flexible, very easy and I didn't think it would be as quick as it was. "Northamptonshire Police is a very good, professional Force. "It's a small Force but the radios, uniforms and equipment are all very good. "I have enjoyed the first four months and because it's a small Force I have got to know people quickly. "I was on a course at headquarters and I kept bumping into people and saying hello - it's like I've been here for years." PC Curley, who was formerly based in Luton, worked in IRT for most of that time but also spent time with Northamptonshire Police as a Special Constable. She said: "I moved here because I thought it would be an opportunity to progress my career. "The recruitment process was very easy and I'm very happy in my role. "In my three years at Luton I did feel like I had experienced most things but since joining Northamptonshire Police I have been facing new challenges every day. "I have learned a lot and I'm making new friends. "I'm sure I made the right decision to transfer." News Source http://www.northants.police.uk/ |
