Newry Junior Chamber announced Crossmaglen student Michelle McEneaney as the recipient of their third Annual Business Student of the Year Award in association with Southern Regional College. The prize was awarded as Michelle represented all that young Business & Management graduates should aspire to. She is hardworking, enthusiastic and dedicated. Michelle was also involved in extra curricular activities and as a class representative was willing to represent students' views to enhance student life at the Southern Regional College. The prize, a perpetual trophy takes the form of a contemporary sculptured bronze scroll, which rests on a black limestone base. This will be inscribed with the Michelle's name and over time will create a roll of honour, which will hopefully inspire future students to greater success. In addition to this, a cash award was made sponsored by the Ulster Bank to the sum of £250. Speaking at the presentation of the Award, President Rory Buchanan spoke of his vision of the award being a goal which Business and Management students at the Southern Regional College would aspire to. "The trophy itself is a magnificent piece of work" he added "the wish of the Chamber has been to produce a modern trophy with traditional elements and the end result can certainly be seen to have achieved this." David Vint, Head of School at SRC added "I am delighted that the School of Business & Management is associated with this award. We are proud of the high standards of achievement attained by our students. The trophy and cash prize will be awarded to the best Business student on an annual basis. It is excellent that student achievements have been recognised by Newry Junior Chamber and the Ulster Bank. This sponsorship by local business is a very welcome."
