South Armgh Rural Women's Network - 31-01-2008
|
Last Tuesday night the women of the South Armagh Rural Women's Network were hosted to a Civic Reception by Mayor Michael Cole in recognition of their outstanding achievement in winning an Award from the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland. The Award was presented to the group by the Prime Minister's wife Sarah Brown.
Speaking at the Reception the Mayor said:
This is a tremendous achievement and it highlights the value of the Network in the rural community. It is an organisation of women who have come together to implement change where change is need. Women with a vision who realised that by working with each other their voices could be heard.
You, as carers, homemakers, workers and parent, are e in the position to know where the support is most needed and where the help could be best used.

I congratulate The South Armagh Rural Women's Network on the success it is today. You have worked, and continue to work tirelessly in your communities to improve the quality of life in your own particular area.
By developing the network you have had an immediate impact on the quality of life of your members offering personal development, education and training.
It is a fact that by improving women's lives this has a ripple effect on the whole community. By providing women with new knowledge and skills and above all, confidence in themselves, when applied in their day to day lives, immediately improves the lives of all they come in connect with.
Although the South Armagh Rural Women's Network is an organisation made up of women, I have no doubt that the benefits are for the whole community of South Armagh. The women of South Armagh are the backbone of the community and the network is an impressive realisation of their vision and focus on a better life for all.
Once again I congratulate you on your outstanding success to date and I have no doubt that the Network will continue to provide a very important role in the community. |
