Mazars scooped three industry awards in one week. On Tuesday, at the Insider Dealmakers' Awards 2008 for Central and East of England debut gala dinner, held in Milton Keynes, their regional team was voted Corporate Finance Advisory Team of the Year, and their leader, Mark Standish, won the coveted Dealmaker of the Year. Only six days before, the firm won another of the industry's foremost annual awards, Large Firm of the Year in the Accountancy Age Awards. All three of these awards were in recognition of achievements over the past 12 months, a period when many others have struggled. The Hilton Hotel was filled with 200 of the most notable dealmakers from Herts, Beds, Bucks, Oxon, Cambs, Northants and Norfolk. Earlier this year, directors and advisors from the region's top 200 quoted companies and 400 professionals were asked to nominate individuals, organisations or events for each category. Voters could not nominate for awards that fell within their own disciplines. Dealmaker of the Year, identifying the corporate finance professional who has made the biggest impact in the regional business community within the past year, sponsored by Dunham Law, was presented by partner, Douglas Iles. Corporate Finance Advisory Team of the Year was sponsored by HSBC and presented by Robin Penfold, Head of their Home and Eastern Corporate Banking Centre. When Compere Adrienne Lawler, one of the UK's most successful journalists, TV and radio presenters, interviewed Mark on collecting his second award, he humbly said: "The international economic climate is tough and there are many problems to solve. The key is within people who can find solutions, and this room is filled with them. We are so fortunate to have such a tremendous corporate finance team working at Mazars' Oxford, Bedford and Milton Keynes offices who design and complete transactions with enormous integrity and energy. I just lead them." Corporate Law Firm of the Year, sponsored by Mazars and presented by Mark, recognised the strongest player, delivering excellence to organisations across the region. This year it went to EMW Picton Howell. Specialist Finance Provider of the Year, sponsored by MacIntyre Hudson Corporate Finance was presented by director Laurence Whitehead to KBC Business Capital. |
