A 14-year-old boy from Milton Keynes has been given an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) in an attempt to stop him breaking into vehicles. The boy, who lives in the north of the city, is now banned from the Conniburrow Estate where many of his offences were committed. The ASBO also prevents him from associating with other members of a group responsible for a high level of crime in the city. PC Dave Goodwin the ASB Officer said "This ASBO has been sought in an attempt to split a group of individuals who are responsible for a considerable amount of crime across the city. Other members of the group will be looked at in the same way with further ASBOs being considered. "We hope the ASBO will act as a deterrent to other young people who may be considering committing similar offences. It is rare in Milton Keynes to use an ASBO against a juvenile, but on this occasion the degree of offending and the impact on the local community was of such a high level the order was viewed as an appropriate option." The ASBO will last for two years. Should any of the conditions set out in the ASBO be breached the boy will be arrested and placed before the court, resulting in a possible custodial sentence. PC Goodwin went on to say: "It is very much down to the individual now. If he sticks to the conditions imposed by the court, hopefully his offending will stop and with the support offered by other agencies he will move away from crime and back into an acceptable life-style. If he chooses to ignore the order then the consequences are clear. He will be arrested and placed before the court." News Source: http://www.thamesvalley.police.uk/ |
