High Wycombe's neighbourhood policing team and partners are inviting everyone to the third Wycombe One Community Cup football match, to be held at the Wycombe Wanderers football ground at Adams Park on Thursday, 22 May. There is no admission charge. The day is broken down into several events. At 1pm, an interschools football and cricket tournament for young children is played and at 4pm a football match between community development staff from Wycombe Wanderers and Reading football clubs is scheduled. At 6.30pm a tournament takes place between police and two community teams. Prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Russ Murden, Neighbourhood Inspector for High Wycombe town, said: "Both Mix 107.4 radio and Wycombe Wanderers are providing activities for young children to participate in football competitions of their own. These have been highly successful in the past. It encourages the fun environment of the day and gets the youngsters involved. "This great event links with all we are trying to achieve with our local communities and partners through neighbourhood policing. We aim to tackle the key quality of life issues raised by the local neighbourhood, and with the local community working together to address those issues. Our local officers will be at the event and available for people to speak to. "We hope that as many people as possible will attend the event, either as participants or supporters, and will enjoy meeting and mixing with other members of their community." Steve Hayes, Managing Director of Wycombe Wanderers said: "The Community Cup last year was a great success with over 200 people attending. We would love to get more people along this year. It is an ideal opportunity for us, our partners and local people to work together towards better community integration now, and in the future. Our view is "one club - one community". We would encourage all members of the public to come along and experience football at a family-friendly sports ground". PC Tom Day, a local neighbourhood officer who is helping to organise the game, said: "We are pleased to be supporting and working with Wycombe Wanderers in this community event. Sport is a great way to bring people with different beliefs and backgrounds together in an environment where everyone has fun." There is no need to book and people are welcome to turn up on the day.
