Police are appealing for two groups of men involved in an incident on Wednesday 7 May near Avon Place, Reading, to come forward. At around 12.20am a 43-year-old man was robbed by a group of boys who stole his bag and then ran off. The man followed one of the boys and eventually caught up with him in Kings Road and tried to detain him for the police. While he was trying to do this, a car with some Asian men pulled up and they split the two up thinking that they were fighting. They agreed to hold everyone until police arrived. However, after a short while a further vehicle pulled up and some black men got out. This second group of men parted the Asian men off the man and the youth, at which point the youth got away. Det Con Chris Spinks, who is investigating the incident, said: "I am trying to trace the youth that got away. I am really keen to trace the two groups of men that were involved in this incident, as they could have vital information to help with my investigation." Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Spinks at Reading police station via 0845 8 505 505. If you don't want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111. •Three boys aged 14, 16 and 17 have been charged in connection with the robbery. Another 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man have been released on bail pending further enquiries until Tuesday 20 May. News Source: http://www.thamesvalley.police.uk
