Our client is a leading UK defence contractor supplying integrated system solutions to the UK and allied armed forces directly or through global prime contractors.

Brief Job Description:
This new role requires an experienced Configuration management practioner that is also an experienced auditor capable of supporting process improvement in to the Technical Operations Function.

From initial start date to end December 2008 the role shall perform audits of Technical operations processes against Company Procedures (Command Media). Thereafter the role shall support the and deliver Configuration Management in to a number of programs whilst retaining an Audit and Process improvement function when called upon by the Technical Operations leadership team.

The following bullets outline both roles:
• Perform Self audit of all Tech Ops processes and Lead process improvement for the discipline.
• Thereafter perform continuous audit of Tech Ops disciplines. (Aim - at least once a year)
• Represent Tech Ops Function in all internal/external audit initiatives ensuring that all deficiencies are logged in the central audit database and all corrective actions are completed to agreed timescale.
• Where identified, support discipline champions in training of process and process changes
• Provide support to Discipline Leads in the update of current Procedures and Work Instructions and prepare new

CM Specific responsibilities:
• To manage the Impact analysis of Change from Functions to determine the impact in terms of cost, schedule and technical in order for the Change Board to make the correct dispositioning decisions and determine points of embodiment
• Coordinate Change records for management control and provide accurate Configuration status accounting
• Manage the flow of Change from creation through to approval and implementation - this to include coordination of the Change Board meeting, Configuration input to that meeting and administrative support. (Agenda/Minutes)
• Support the Configuration Management team in the development and delivery of a common and consistent CM process across the Business
• Ensure that customer requirements are implemented and reviews change accounting activity to ensure compliance with configuration management policies. This may include the creation of Project specific Configuration management Plans
• To prepare for and support Physical and Functional Configuration audits and CM process audits
• Provision of data management support to Projects

Essential Experience:

• An experienced Auditor possibly through conducting Configuration management Process and FCA/PCA audits
• Able to demonstrate experience of the Configuration management process from 'cradle to grave' as defined by UK Standard DEF-STAN 05-57
• Able to demonstrate leadership capability in the delivery of audit process improvement
• Be able to communicate to all levels of staff and be experienced in the delivery of process improvement proposals to senior managers

Desirable Experience:

• Familiar with key Technical operations process such as design for manufacture, Configuration Management, Drawing release
• Familiar with key Technical operations tools supporting process such as MCAD (PRO-E), and SAP
• Familiar with Process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Total Quality Management, Continuous
• Business Improvement
• Experience of using PLM tools to support design release and Change management
• Data Management experience (delivery/receipt and recording)
