DUFFA Hat Tournament - 26-07-08 to 27-07-08

Didsbury Ultimate Frisbee for Amateurs (DUFFA), a Manchester based Ultimate Frisbee club, is hosting their very first Hat Tournament! The tournament is open to anyone, including beginners!

What is Ultimate Frisbee?

Ultimate is an exciting, non-contact team sport, played on a rectangular pitch with 'end zones' (like rugby). The frisbee is passed from player to player to be 'scored' by catching it in the 'endzone'.

An explanation of the game can be found here: http://www.whatisultimate.com/what/what_game_en.html

What is a 'Hat Tournament'?

In a Hat tournament, players sign up individually, rather than as part of a team. Each player is then assigned to a team made of people he or she probably doesn't know. In theory, the names are pulled out of a hat, (thus "Hat Tournament") but in actual practice, the teams will be balanced as closely as possible based on each player's self-ranking. Each team will have players of all fitness and experience levels. Hat tournaments are a great way for new players to play with seasoned veterans, and a great way for everybody to relax and have fun playing the game. Meeting new friends and socializing is what it's all about.

Where is the tournament?

Burnage Rugby Club

How much does it cost?

£16 per player. This price includes a free t-shirt and free camping.
