As promised, here is a selection of the feedback we received from our Twitter followers on the new website. We have also added comments of our own in places: NickAnstead @DowningStreet. Like site v much and have blogged on it: http://snurl.com/3fhfg. Was it a conscious decision to go open source with WP? PinkPixie @DowningStreet Think the new site is great and also impressed that you had the guts to launch in beta Vesey @DowningStreet Brilliant! Congrats for communicating like this! PaulDuxbury @DowningStreet just one small suggestion - make the "Latest News" headlines more obviously links or tell people they can click on them Alheri @DowningStreet. clear and simple site. Yet, very clinical and uninspiring. No link to Cabinet Office or any Task Forces. Impersonal. Factual We consciously wanted to focus the site on factual news and take away general material that had built up over the years and cluttered the site. Hopefully elements such as Twitter will make the new site more personal than the old one. There is a link to the Cabinet Office on the History and Tour/Cabinet page. Narfmaster @DowningStreet My quick review of the site in comparison from the old one can be found @ http://xander.am0.co.uk/10 neillyneil@DowningStreet seriously good work streamlining the content down to only the stuff that matters and isn't available elsewhere. Thank you, neillyneil, that has been our intention. steve_wadsworth@DowningStreet I like the new site design. It's a lot cleaner than the old one. sionowen@DowningStreet big improvement. just wondering if all the black makes it a bit funereal - could be more energetic and uplifting Herne @DowningStreet I'd do something with the signature on the "Meet the PM" page...it looks like someone wrote it in crayon. Understood. This image has been edited and should look neater now. davidcushman @downingstreet my thoughts on your new site. Fear you're missing the real opportunities: http://tinyurl.com/57p7dd Thanks for your thoughts, david. Comment and interaction is something we want to pursue, but we know from experience that this could quickly require an unmanageable amount of moderation. As you are probably aware, our site must abide by the Civil Service code in terms of its content (and that would include user comments). We are always looking for ways to strike the right balance and allow user involvement (eg. twitter, Ask The PM, E-petitions, webchats) and will continue to do so. robertbrook@downingstreet glad to see the new design reaches the petitions pages too... http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/ grintoul @DowningStreet Not 100% convinced of some fonts and layout on new site, but love that you've Twitter, Flickr, YouTube on homepage. Good job! realfreshtv @DowningStreet Final recommendation:comments can be moderated but pls consider disclosing sentiment received across a variety of responses. Hopefully the tweets above do display a variety of sentiment. On the whole they are positive because the majority of feedback from our Twitter community has been positive, though others have made suggestions for improvement which we always take on board and look to resolve. Thanks again for all of your feedback. Keep those tweets coming. |
