Police and council officers from Maidstone have been out in force looking for unlicensed and untaxed vehicles around the County Town. 18 cars were seized for having no tax following the operation, which ran from 10 14 November, targeting car parks in both Maidstone town centre and the outlying rural villages such as Headcorn and Yalding. Operational Controller Richard Wingett for Maidstone Borough Council's Community Safety Team comments: "This week has once again seen the value of Operation Cubit by removing a further 18 untaxed cars from the roads of the Maidstone borough area. Untaxed cars often blight our neighbourhoods by being abandoned and set on fire, used in criminal activity and involved in hit and run crashes as often the drivers have no insurance. Yet it is surprising that the people who are prepared to break the law in this way, think that they can get away with it. More Operation Cubits are currently being planned."
