Coll Footprint – launch of new free resource for all schools
Lasertech UK, Manufacturer of Printer Cartridges and supplier of Office Products have just launched Coll Footprint, their Carbon Warrior, to help children understand the importance of environmental issues, such as Carbon Footprint and recycling.
Coll stands for CO2 but obviously the 2 is written as II, and he has his very own online world at http://www.collfootprint.com. This is where schools and teachers can easily register to gain access to a wide range of fun activities, lesson plans, ideas, tips and discussion sheets all about Carbon Footprint and ways in which we can all be more environmentally friendly. All the activities are conveniently broken down into three age groups, so teachers can log on and download PDF’s for them to use in the classroom.
David Kerfoot, Managing Director, Lasertech Southport explains, “We are the first manufacturer of Printer Cartridges to really highlight the true cost of a cartridge when you take into account its potential Carbon Footprint.”
“As Coll’s world grows we are really looking for schools to interact with the site, to post their own ideas and activities and upload pictures of themselves and their Carbon Footprint initiatives.”
Lasertech have always been a ‘Green company’ with their very own recycling scheme to encourage people to return their empty cartridges. 19 years on, all Lasertech Cartridges are manufactured using the outer plastic shell of empty cartridges, and replacing all internal components collected from Schools and businesses. Amazingly, worldwide, 75% of empty cartridges still end up in landfill!
“When you look at some of the facts about landfill and recycling it really highlights what a massive problem the industry faces”, David continued, “Coll allows us to provide really useful information to teachers and schools so we can raise a whole generation of Carbon Warriors! Plus Coll is a really fun character and we think he will really appeal to children and capture their imagination. There are already plans to expand Coll’s world to include interact games and competitions as we move forward.”
Many people associate reducing the miles they drive and fly, conserving electricity, insulating their homes as major factors in reducing their carbon footprint, but have you ever wondered how many miles you cartridge has travelled before it arrives in your printer? Well the answer depends on the manufacturer of the cartridge. Lasertech cartridges are predominantly produced in Cheshire, England so depending were you are based in the UK or Ireland it would only travel a maximum of 800 miles, compared to an HP or Samsung cartridges produced in the Fast East, and recycled in the USA may have travelled over 7000 miles. So buying Lasertech cartridges will save you money, reduce your carbon footprint and stop empty cartridges going to landfill, visit http://www.lasertechgroup.com/ Southport for more information or http://www.lasertechsouthport.com
