Founded in 1982, Lincoln now boasts the biggest Christmas Market in Europe. It is internationally acclaimed, has won several major tourism awards and is much copiedv by other cities across the UK.

2008 heralds a fresh take on the Christmas Market with a heavy emphasis on locally produced food, drink and gifts, as well as that of our twin town, Neustadt.

Visitors will notice a reduced emphasis on fairground attractions and fast food stalls, with a larger selection of quality Christmas gifts available.

We are proud to announce a series of events programmed especially for you and brought to you by The City of Lincoln Council, Bailgate Businesses and Mouchel.

The events will take place in the Lawrence Hall at the Lawn from the 1st to the 3rd of December 2008.

Costing as little as £5 and covering everything from wine tasting and cooking to fashion shows and flower arranging, there is something for everyone.

Top Tips for your visit...

• Come dressed for the weather, make sure you wrap up warm, and drink plenty of warm refreshments, and don't forget your cobble friendly footwear.
• Please use the Park and Ride for car parking. There is no parking in the immediate vicinity of the market and we recommend that all cars use the park and ride service from the Lincolnshire Showground on the A15 north of Lincoln (LN1 2ST for SatNav). The cost is £10 per car and buses operate continuously throughout the market, making your journey very easy. The service includes tail lift buses for disabled passengers.
• In the event of lost children or lost property, please contact a Steward or Police Officer.
• Lincoln Christmas Market welcomes over 160,000 visitors over four days and we operate a pedestrian one-way system in some areas of the market to help make your experience more comfortable and enjoyable. Please follow the recommended routes and leave plenty of time to get around the Market, and back to your coach or park and ride bus.

• Less mobile visitors should be aware that there are a number of places you can take a rest from shopping, including the food courts and school/church halls throughout the site. Please be aware that some areas of the market are on cobbles. You may like to visit the Market on Friday, as this is generally the quietest and most accessible time.
• In case you get separated, please identify somewhere to meet up with your party. The large Christmas tree at the West Front of the Cathedral is ideal.
• Due to our visitor numbers, dogs are not permitted at the Christmas Market, unless they are registered assistance dogs. Please do not leave them in cars, even in the winter.
• If you want to avoid the walk back up Steep Hill, the Walk & Ride bus operates a direct service between Silver Street in the City Centre and Minster Yard on the South side of the Cathedral, throughout the market.
