Councillor Brian Wombwell, Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe 2007-2008 recently presented a cheque for £3633.67 to the NSPCC to help with their work in the area. Julia Stewart, Regional Fundraiser for the NSPCC accepted the cheque and presented Councillor Wombwell with a certificate to thank Councillor Wombwell for the financial contribution and for his help in promoting the work of the NSPCC. During his year of office Councillor Wombwell was joined by many people who supported the work of NSPCC and the money was raised by donations, quizzes, collections, concerts, raffles and the Charity Glitter Ball held at the East Midlands Conference Centre in March 2008. NSPCC has been protecting children from cruelty since 1884 and now runs more than 180 services for children, young people and families. NSPCC's vision is of a society where all children are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential. |
