Make Your Own Xmas Lantern - 2008-11-22
|
An exciting programme of community lantern making has been organised to ‘light up' the Christmas Light Switch On in Eastwood. A family lantern making workshop will take place at Plumptre Hall on Saturday 22 November. Morning session starts from 10.30am - 1.30pm and afternoon session from 2.30pm until 5.30pm and everyone is welcome. Cost is £3.00 per small to medium sized lantern or £5.50 for a large lantern and places can be booked on the workshop by contacting 0115 917 3695. Everyone who makes a lantern is invited to join the fabulous lantern gathering on the night of the switch-on to display their wonderful creations. This is a special family event and all children must be accompanied by an adult. This year Eastwood Junior School and Eastwood Comprehensive School are taking part by working with artists Julie Bartholomew and Sarah Palmer to design and make their own unique lanterns prior to the Switch On Event.
This year's Light Switch On Event is bigger and better than ever and promises to out shine all its rivals. As well as all the ttraditional switch on activities from carol singing to a lantern parade, this year the event boasts ‘Santa's Express' land train, a tribute show to High School Musical, music, entertainment, stalls and much much more. The exciting light switch on event will take place on Tuesday 25November along Eastwood's Nottingham Road from 6.00pm until 8.30pm. A road closure will be in place from 6.00pm until 9.00pm from The Sun Inn to Plumptre Way. Broxtowe Borough Council and Eastwood Town Council funded the lantern making programme with sponsorship from STAX IN STORE. |
