SPECIAL CHRISTMAS SERVICE - 2008-12-06

An extra special Christmas Service of Remembrance is to be held this year at Bramcote Crematorium on Saturday 6 December 2008 at 3:30pm in the main chapel. As people arrive they will be asked to give the names of the loved ones they are remembering. The names will be read out during the act of remembrance and at the same time family members will be invited to light a candle in their memory.

The service will be led by Civil Celebrant Laura Read and Reverend Jez Prance, with musical contributions from International Soprano Sarah Simmonds and pupils from the Long Eaton School.

Many of the readers and those assisting with other parts of the service are people, who have themselves lost loved ones, and who have expressed a desire to take part in making it a very sincere and personal occasion.

Children are especially welcome and invited to bring a picture to brighten the chapel. Following the service, which will be about 45 minutes long, seasonal refreshments will be available in the new chapel.

The service has an informal and relaxed atmosphere which is appreciated and offers comfort to all those who attend. Comments from previous year's services include:"Thank you for a wonderful service."
"A beautiful and moving service."
"A very touching experience."
"Thank you so very much - I may now be able to move on."

The Service of Remembrance is normally very well attended, people are very welcome to just turn up on the day but if they wish to guarantee a seat reservations can be made in advance by contacting the crematorium office on 0115 922 1837.

Normally held at Easter, this year's service was postponed due to emergency roof repairs.Further details of this event may be obtained from the Crematorium Manager, Kevin Browne 0115 922 1837. The Bramcote Crematorium is owned and managed in a joint venture between Broxtowe and Erewash Borough Councils.
