Children in the Ilkeston area are in for a treat this summer as GameZone visits the local community. GameZone gives young people the chance to try the latest computer games and consoles; such as the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Playstation 2. The children can try all the games and challenge their friends in a safe and fun environment. GameZone in Ilkeston will be held in the following locations: * Saturday, 26th July: Eventide Hall, Stanley Common, 5:30pm - 8:00pm * Saturday, 2nd August: The Pavilion, Cotmanhay, 5:30pm - 8:00pm * Saturday, 9th August: Eventide Hall, Stanley Common, 5:30pm - 8:00pm * Saturday, 16th August: The Pavilion, Cotmanhay, 5:30pm - 8:00pm * Saturday, 23rd August: Nottingham Road Methodist Church, 5:30pm - 8:00pm * Saturday, 30th August: The Village Hall, Kirk Hallam, 5:30pm - 8:00 pm * Saturday, 6th September: Community Centre, West Hallam, 5:30pm - 8:00pm GameZone evenings are open to anyone from the age of 8 to 18, and parents are also welcome to join in. There will be a £1 entry fee and all proceeds will be donated to a local charity. A tuck shop will also be available at each event. PCSO Chris Hart from the Ilkeston Rural Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "The children we speak to often complain about being bored, especially during school holidays, which is why we've introduced Gamezone to the local community. "Gamezone was first used to help reduce anti-social behaviour in the Middlecroft area of Chesterfield. The project has been hugely successful and we hope that children in the Ilkeston community will benefit from having something interesting and fun to take part in. "There will be prizes available at each GameZone evening and all the latest games will be available." |
