The multi-agency initiative Kirklees Focus, is moving to Almondbury and Newsome on Monday June 18, and will run for five days to tackle quality of life issues for local residents.
Officers from the Kirklees Neighbourhood Policing Teams will be carrying out various activities with partner agencies during the week including targeting offenders wanted on warrant, executing arrest warrants, targeting anti-social behaviour hotspots, a community clean up, targeting illegal vehicles and the use of the area's roads for criminal activity, high visibility patrols on buses, truancy patrols, licensing visits to on and off licensed premises, deployment of the CCTV van, patrols targeting illegal parking, crime reduction advice, deployment of off road bikes, deployment of young people's services, dog warden patrols and fire safety advice.
Sergeant Nicola Brown from the Huddersfield South Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "We have identified a number of issues in the Almondbury and Newsome areas that are of concern to residents and over the course of next week, we shall be taking positive action with our partners to address those issues.
"Our objectives are to reduce anti-social behaviour, reduce reports of criminal damage, to target and arrest those wanted for offences, reduce overall crime and the fear of crime, and provide a cleaner environment for those that live and work in the Almondbury and Newsome areas.
"We are also pleased that the initiative has been extended to a week to allow us to really engage with the local communities and make a difference to their quality of life."
