Huddersfield Health: Trust Wins Place on X-Ray Pilot Thanks to Top Performance - 01-06-2007
|
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust has become one of the first sites in the country to benefit from a new scheme to strengthen radiology services.
Services at five sites nationwide have been selected to pilot the Radiology Accreditation Programme (RAP) which is a collaboration between the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR).
Trusts were asked to bid for a place on the pilot and the Calderdale and Huddersfield - with its emphasis on patient experience - emerged amongst the top performers in the country.
The RAP model is being drawn up by the colleges to help assess and support radiology services in reaching the highest levels of patient care. Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust will be supporting the colleges in developing and testing national standards on safety, quality of patient experience, resource and workforce improvement and clinical outcomes.
Ethna Glean, Accreditation Project Manager, said: "We had many good quality applications but the Calderdale & Huddersfield Trust's was a particularly high calibre bid. What really stood out was their strong focus on improving the patient's experience of their care during diagnostic investigations. This complemented the RAP's vision of ensuring that the patient perspective is at the heart of developing radiology and interventional services. We are very much looking forward to working with the Calderdale & Huddersfield's team over the coming months."
Consultant radiologist Rabi Paes, at the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust said: " We are delighted that the Trust has been chosen to lead on developing this new blueprint for delivering stronger radiology services. By piloting the scheme in our local area, we are showing leadership on a national level. We look forward to working with the colleges over the coming months."
