Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Jean Lammiman, hosted a ‘Champagne and Canapés' evening yesterday (16 April 2008) in support of Teenage Cancer Trust. The event, which was held at Pinner's prestigious serviced office centre, Evans House, was a huge success, attracting many key players from Pinner's local business community. The highlight of the evening was the charity auction in which guests were invited to bid on a number of items kindly donated by local businesses, many of whom are based in Evans House. Cllr Lammiman said: "This has been a very enjoyable evening and has helped raise awareness of the great work carried out by Teenage Cancer Trust. Over £2,500 has been raised for the charity and I am thrilled with how successful the event has been." Joanna Haslock, Evans House centre manager, said: "At Evans House we believe it is important to play an active part in the local community and are delighted to be supporting the Mayor's chosen charity, Teenage Cancer Trust. As a provider of first class business accommodation in the Borough, we have established links with many local businesses that were all too happy to support this event." Simon Davies, Chief Executive of TCT adds, "Six teenagers are diagnosed with cancer each day, that's over 2,000 every year. But these young patients don't stop being teenagers just because they get cancer. TCT ensures that young cancer patients get the best possible care in hospital and the chance to do all the things that other teenagers do. TCT funds specialist teenage cancer units in NHS hospitals, with the aim being to give every young person with cancer access to a unit and improve survival rates - which means opening a further 14 units by 2012. TCT currently has 9 units around the country. It costs around £2million to open a new unit, all of which we have to raise, and so we are incredibly grateful for the support that the Mayor of Harrow has given us." Evans Easyspace does not have a nominated charity as it tends to support many local initiatives based in and around the locations of its 50 Evans Business Centres. Evans Easyspace believes that wherever there is an Evans Business Centre, it is important to become an integral part of the local community and is therefore delighted to be able to support the Mayor of Harrow's charity, Teenage Cancer Trust, through Evans House, Pinner. Evans House is ideally located on Marsh Road and offers first class business accommodation in the heart of Pinner village. Boasting 78 serviced office suites under easy-in, easy-out terms, along with three intelligent meeting/training rooms, Evans House provides everything you need to help your business thrive.
