The Malawi Hindu Association (UK) has embarked on a mission to recruit a team of medical volunteers and raise funds for a medical and eye camp that will take place at the Nkhata Bay District Hospital in Northern Malawi from Monday 10th to Friday 15th November 2008 (both dates inclusive).
The team will depart from London on Friday 7th November and arrive Lilongwe-the Malawian capital-on 8th November. On arrival, the group will be taken on a four hour drive to the lakeshore town of Nkhata Bay via the picturesque lakeshore road.Accommodation, transport and meals will be provided but the volunteers will be paying for their air fares.
A small team will leave for Malawi a week in advance to prepare for the arrival of the group. It is expected that up to fifty people will make up the group.
The team will arrive in Nkhata Bay on the afternoon of Saturday 8th November. Sunday 9th will be spent at the Nkhata Bay District Hospital setting for the Camp and meeting local doctors etc.The camp will run from Monday 10th to Friday 14th November. The team will depart from Nkhata Bay on Saturday 15th and leave on pre-booked flights on Saturday or Sunday for London.
Those departing on Saturday 15th will arrive London on Sunday 16th. Those taking the flight on Sunday 16th will arrive London Monday 17th.
Whilst at Nkhata Bay Hospital, the team can expect to treat the following sorts of ailments:
* Malaria Cataracts Skin problems * Dental * Eye problems * Minor Surgery
Various types of surgeries will also be carried out in the hospital.

Container Shipments We are seeking donations in the following areas:
* Medicines (list available-please call number below) * Dressings i.e. bandages, plasters, cotton wool etc. * Medical equipment * Wheel chairs * Crutches * Consumables i.e. Gloves, tissues, couch rolls etc. * Clean toys, cycles and books for the children's ward. * Clean, washed, ironed children's clothing up to age 15. * Clean, working TVs. videos, DVDs for the hospital wards. * Soaps, washing liquids, detergents etc. * New linen and blankets * New Towels
These should all be packed properly and delivered to: Unit 4, Bowman Trading Estate, Westmoreland Road London NW9 9RL.
