Police have made a number of arrests during a crackdown on crime in the Bristol Road area of Gloucester. Operation Diligence has been set up by the Gloucester South Inspector Neighbourhood Area to combat criminal activity including burglaries at commercial premises and the theft of fuel from vehicles. Running for three weeks and still ongoing the operation has seen fantastic results. The team have been conducting increased patrols of the area particularly at night. Local businesses have been visited and provided with crime prevention advice around security and diesel thefts. The Gloucester Crime Prevention Officer will continue to work closely with the businesses in the coming weeks. Recent arrests include, a 21-year-old man who has had a number of offences in the Bristol Road area taken into consideration including the theft of diesel from lorries. On October 4 police arrested a 28-year-old man and a 42-year-old man on suspicion of a non-dwelling burglary in Shepard Road. They have been bailed pending further enquiries to return to Gloucester Police Station on November 4. A 19-year-old man was arrested on October 2 in Shakespeare Avenue after he was seen carrying a quantity of lead. He has been bailed to return to Gloucester Police Station on October 25.
