Fire crews were called to pump out flooded homes in Lydney|
Heavy rain overnight has caused pockets of flooding on roads across Gloucestershire. Motorists have been warned of problems on the A48 near Lydney, at Staverton village and at the bridge under St Oswald's Road in Gloucester. Council highways chiefs said teams have been working through the night to clear drains to try to stop flooding. Weather experts said in the last few days the county has had more than the expected rainfall for all of September. On Thursday, fire crews and council workers were called to homes in Lydney's Lakeside Avenue following flash flooding. And Robinswood Primary in Gloucester has been closed due to the bad weather. "We're very well prepared for it at the moment, but fortunately, we have seen thus far anything like the levels of rain of last year," said Jason Humm from Gloucestershire Highways. "We did have some isolated problems, a little bit of standing water so we'd encourage everyone to be cautious on the way to work." http://www.bbc.co.uk/home/d/ |
