Counterfeit DVDs and music CDs have been found on sale at Gloucester's new market and car boot site at Hempstead Meadows. Gloucestershire County Council Trading Standards Officers assisted by Hempstead Meadows Officials carried out inspections of car boot sellers on Wednesday and identified illegal copies of films and music on several stalls. Titles included 'Saw', 'The Incredible Hulk', and 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico'. In all cases the goods were confiscated and advice was given to the individuals. Eddie Coventry, Head of Trading Standards, commented: "We very much want to support the organisers of the new market in ensuring it is successful and that it trades fairly and safely. We will be working with traders, car booters, Gloucestershire Police and other agencies to ensure that only legal goods are offered for sale. Counterfeit goods put local traders who sell genuine products at a disadvantage and they short change consumers. We will not hesitate to take action against individuals who flout the law." http://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/ |
