Exploring Glasgow

Probably the most famous park in Glasgow would be Glasgow green which in the past has played host to all kinds of events including concerts, charity events and even the world pipe band championships. So if you are looking for some green space then you are in the right place.

For the shoppers amongst you there is an almost never ending supply of shops and retail outlets, From the world famous Barras market in the east end, a relatively short walk would take you to the St'Enoch Centre in the heart of Glasgow, claimed to be the largest glass-enclosed structure in modern Europe. More prestigious shopping malls include Princes Square and the Buchanan Galleries which offer large collections of designer gifts and clothes shops.

For those of you interested in art,  Glasgow offers superb facilities in the shape of museums and art galleries. The Burrell Collection situated in Pollok Country Park, houses more than 9000 artworks presented to the city by Sir William Burrell and are displayed proudly to visitors for free. The Glasgow Science Centre is a relatively new attraction offering hundreds of interactive science exhibits for children and big kids alike and is also home to the Glasgow tower which stands 125 metres tall and can rotate through 360 degrees, a world first for tower technology.

Glasgow also has a vibrant and largely followed music scene for all you music lovers out there. From the legendary Barrowland Ballroom, playing host in its time to most influential bands, to the world famous King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in St' Vincents street where Oasis where discovered back in 1993, A Piece of music history for anyone interested.

For the more energetic visitor, there are lots of bars and nightclubs in Glasgow to cater for all tastes and you will find that this is a city that really does not sleep so preserve your energy for a good night out in Glasgow.

Getting around Glasgow is not as daunting as you would expect,Glasgow has a very good transport infrastructure and any journey can be undertaken with minimal fuss and frustration. The Glasgow Subway, runs in a double circle around Glasgow city centre and some inner city suburbs. The system serves the city centre, the West End  and Ibrox Stadium in Govan on the southside of the city.

Buses go all over Glasgow, this is a very comprehensive service There's a bus at least every ten minutes on main routes during the day, making it easy to get into the centre of town from anywhere in Glasgow. This in conjunction with the subway and street level railway make travelling and commuting in Glasgow a relatively straightforward task. And if you decide to use the old fashioned method of walking, then its good news also as Glasgow's streets are now very much pedestrian friendly with several bridges spanning over the river clyde leading to the bustling city centre and beyond.
