Neilston Road, Barrhead, has been re-opened today, three days day early, after council roads crews put their muscle behind Scottish Water staff carrying out sewer repairs on the road at its junction with Lochlibo Road and Kelburn Street. Neilston Road was closed on Thursday 14 August after the sewer collapsed at the busy junction and diversions have been operating causing considerable traffic disruption. The closure was posted to run until Thursday 4 September. East Renfrewshire Council's roads chief Joe Devine said: "We were able to use our own plant and staff to help with the carriageway repairs and speed the work. We also used the closure period to improve the surface on the closed section while it was free of traffic. All diversions are now off and Neilston Road is fully open." www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk |
