Fife News : Local LIB Dem MP Willie Rennie urges tax cuts. - 08-10-2008

With energy and food costs rising Willie Rennie MP has urged the Scottish Government to cut tax - urgently.

Commenting Mr Rennie said:

"With the cost of living under the Labour government spiralling out of control, many people are faced with very tight household budgets."

"The average family food bill has risen by £750 a year. The price of eggs, bread, milk, cheese have all increased by more than three times the rate of inflation in the last year. At the same time the price of fuel and energy bills continue to rise putting further strain on people's pockets.

"All this is happening whilst Gordon Brown's government sits on its hands."

"Tavish Scott's proposed 2p tax cut for Scotland; which unlike Labour's empty promises will ease the burden on families struggling with rising food and energy bills.

"Under our proposals, families in Dunfermline and West Fife will save £306 a year."

"At a time when the Scottish and UK Government are spouting empty rhetoric, the Liberal Democrats are providing practical polices that will make a difference."
