Fife News : Closure Order - Lumphinnans - 22nd August 2008 - 25-08-2008

Fife Constabulary have today (Friday 22nd August 2008) been successful in obtaining a Closure Order for a property in Viewfield Terrace, Lumphinnans, where serious anti-social behaviour associated with the house has made life a misery for local people in recent months.  This is now the 14th Closure Order secured by Fife Constabulary since the introduction of the Anti-social Behaviour legislation in 2004.

The Closure application is a last resort following efforts by the Police and local authority to resolve matters through other measures without success whereby the occupants will be excluded from their home for a period of 3 months.

Ken Stickings Community Inspector said "We have not taken the decision to pursue this course of action lightly and I hope that it sends a message out to those people who persist in anti-social behaviour that Fife Constabulary, supported by the local community and other partner agencies will not tolerate the type of anti-social behaviour endured by some of the residents in Lumphinnans.  This action will no doubt help to improve the quality of life for the residents in Viewfield Terrace and make the Lumphinnans area a safer neighbourhood to reside in."

Community Officer for the Lumphinnans area, PC Colin Falconer said "I will continue to patrol this area and will utilise the full powers of the anti-social behaviour act to ensure that the closure of these premises remains in force until the anti-social behaviour committed by the occupants is stopped."
