Fife News : HIll of Beath Main Street Essential Resurfacing Works - 22-07-2008

FIFE Council's Transportation Services will shortly be carrying out essential carriageway repairs and resurfacing on Main Street, Hill of Beath from its junction with the B981 Crossgates to Cowdenbeath road, to its junction with Woodend Place.  These works are programmed to commence on Monday 28 July 2008, for 3 weeks in total, to coincide with the school holidays and will be carried out in three phases using road closures, starting at the south end and working northwards.

The diversion route for through traffic will be via the B981, Broad Street and Woodend Place to Main Street, or vice versa.  Access for the emergency services will be maintained at all times and local residents/businesses on Main Street will still be able to service their properties/premises during the works.

In the event of the Main Street and Swintons Place junction being closed, residents from Hawthorn Crescent and Dalbeath Gardens etc will be requested to temporarily use Torbeith Gardens for access to and from Main Street.

Discussions have taken place with Stagecoach, who will provide one bus per hour in each direction through the roadworks for the duration of the contract.  Details of this revised service will be displayed at bus stops in the area.

Any inconvenience and delay caused by these works is of course regretted, but this will, as far as possible, be kept to a minimum.  The contractor responsible for carrying out the works is Fife Council Transportation Services and their contact is Alistair Donald who can be contacted on 08451 555555   extension 444628
