A 49-year-old man has been detained and will be questioned by Fife Police in connection with the murders of Michelle Thomson (25) and Ryan Thomson (7). The bodies of the sister and brother were discovered at their father's home at 20 Muiredge Cottages, Buckhaven, shortly after 7pm on Saturday (3rd May.) The police today (Monday 5th May) confirmed the victim's father Robert Thomson was discharged earlier today from Dunfermline's Queen Margaret Hospital where he was taken for medical treatment after the discovery of the bodies. Detective Superintendent Alistair McKeen said the investigation into the tragic incident continued: "We are currently carrying out a thorough forensic examination of the house. "While we are not currently able to give precise details of the nature of Michelle and Ryan's injuries, we can confirm they died violently. This has been a particularly harrowing experience for everyone involved in the investigation. Levenmouth's Chief Inspector Andy Morris said that the police were continuing to support the Thomson family and working with local councillors and other agencies to provide reassurance to the community. "We have been heartened by the excellent response from residents to yesterday's appeal. It has provided us with some valuable information which will assist us with the investigation. "I appreciate there will be some disruption in the local community over the next few days. There will be an increased number of Community Police Officers in the area for additional support if required. Likewise, local residents can contact Levenmouth Police Station where staff will be more than happy to assist." |
