Detectives in Portsmouth are releasing a CCTV image in order to trace a man who could be a vital
witness following an incident in the city.
In the early hours of the morning on Sunday, August 3, a 27-year-old woman from Portsmouth had been on a night out with friends in Guildhall Walk and was making her way home.
During the journey she became separated from her friends, and on her arrival home at around 2.25 am realised that she had a number of cuts and bruises to her arms and legs.
The journey from the Guildhall Walk area to the woman's home takes approximately 15 minutes to walk, and the woman has very little recollection of getting back to her address.
The woman does recall speaking to a man on her way home, and this man appears on CCTV in Arundal Street.
He is described as: - Black
- Between 23 and 30 years of age
- Short dark hair
- Wearing a grey jumper with a white shirt worn underneath, and jeans
Detective Constable Katie Holland said, "We know that this woman took a route home past Tesco in Paradise Street and headed towards Crasswell Street, which is not far from her home. She appears to have met this man near to Tesco store and he has walked her to her door. We are very keen to speak to this man to find out if he saw what happened to the woman to account for her injuries. The woman is white and has long blonde hair. She is slim and of medium height, and was wearing a black dress, with knee high black socks.
"I would ask that if you recognise this man, saw him on the night or that you think this may be you, please contact police as soon as possible. We are working to piece together this woman's movements on her way home and to find out how she got the cuts and bruises, and so any information could be very important to us."
