Crack House Closure Order granted on Fleet premises - 05-09-2008

Officers from the North and East OCU Safer Streets Team have officially closed a house in Fleet after a Crack House Closure Order was granted by magistrates under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003.

The order, granted by Aldershot Magistrates on Thursday, September 3, means that no-one can enter the property at 27 Church Grove, Fleet for three months.

During this time, it is a criminal offence for anyone to enter the house unless authorised by police.

The court found that the premises has been used in connection with the unlawful use, production or supply of a class A controlled drug and the use of the premises has been associated with the occurrence of disorder or serious nuisance to members of the public.

A six month interim Anti-Social Behaviour Order was also made against Scott Donoghue, who lived at the address, which prevents him from entering Church Grove.

Sergeant Dave Hill, of the Fleet Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: "Drug use and the supply of drugs impacts across the whole community. With the continued support of the local community and partners we will disrupt drug activity by taking the homes of drugs suppliers away from them, forcing them out of our communities and allowing the housing to be used by law abiding families.

"We will continue to target those involved in the supply of drugs and deal with them robustly.

"I would urge anyone with information about drugs or criminal activity to contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111 and support the police in maintaining the Hart District as being the safest place in Hampshire to live."

Sentinel Housing Association's Neighbourhood Manager, Chantal Mitchell said: "When we signed up to the Government's Respect Agenda, we made a commitment to take swift enforcement against all cases of anti-social behaviour.

"This case has proved that through close working with the police we can make a real difference in local communities. We would encourage residents experiencing anti-social behaviour from Sentinel tenants to contact us on 0800 195 5515."
