Police are appealing for information after a burglar broke into a house and stole items while the homeowners slept, in Corranade Walk, Portsmouth.
The couple went to bed at 11pm on Tuesday, July 22. The 70-year-old man woke just after 2am this morning, and whilst getting up to use the bathroom he heard a noise.
When he went into the lounge he found a jewellery box on the floor, open. He woke his wife who then found that more items had been disturbed and some had been taken.
It is thought the offender entered the property through a window, and had also been into the bedroom while the man and woman slept.
A mobile phone and handbag were taken, along with a large amount of jewellery. In particular a gold chain which had some jade in it and a dragon symbol on it, and a bracelet, which also had jade in it along with a Chinese symbol, were taken.
PC Catherine Stacey said, "Some of the items taken during this incident were very distinctive, and hold a high sentimental value for the owner, so I would urge anyone who may know where the jewellery is or has been offered or seen them for sale, to contact police so that we may identify the person responsible and recover the property taken. Though this happened overnight there may be people who think they heard or saw something, and again I'd ask that these people get in contact with us." News Source: http://www.hampshire.police.uk/ |
