The 13th annual Multicultural Festival takes place this year on Sunday 31 August, on Castle Field, Southsea. This free and popular outdoor event kicks off at 10am and will feature live music on two stages, children and adult workshops, ethnic crafts stalls and food to tantalise your pallet.
The festival brings together people from local communities in Portsmouth in artistic, musical and cultural activities that celebrate diversity.
This year the acts includes Reggae Band, Ebony Rockers, playing sweet, melodic reggae, that will have you dancing in no time; Kausary, taking you on a musical journey, from Andean, to Latin sounds; Teeze, with their brand of African tinged with soul; Asian Drumming from Dholi'z; Thai dancing; Flamenco dancing; Lion Dance ... and more. The workshops will feature drumming circle by Drum 4 Fun, music, dance, face painting t-shirt making, etc.
The Portsmouth Multicultural Group is a charitable organisation, run by volunteers, and aim to promote awareness and celebrate the diverse cultures in Portsmouth. The annual Multicultural Festival has become one of the most important festivals in the city's cultural calendar and is attended by thousands of people who come together to enjoy the spectacle.
