Devon & Cornwall Police has joined forces with Devon County Council to launch its policy to tackle domestic abuse in the workplace. The launch will take place at a music event at Exeter's Phoenix centre on Thursday September 4 2008. The launch is being hosted by Devon County Council's Chief Executive, Phil Norrey, with Assistant Chief Constable Paul Netherton. Also in attendance will be representatives from Devon Primary Care Trust and the Environment Agency, as well as survivors of domestic abuse who will be talking about their experiences and the role of the workplace in identifying and supporting the issues. ACC Paul Netherton said: "Devon & Cornwall Constabulary employs more than 6000 police officers and staff and we have a duty to protect each and everyone. As well as tackling domestic abuse from a criminal aspect we also adopt a zero tolerance approach to domestic abuse among our workforce and will do everything in our power to offer any staff affected by this crime the support they need for however long they require it." Musician's Martyn Joseph and Steve Knightly will be performing at the Phoenix Centre, Gandy Street, as part of the Musicians Against Domestic Violence Concert which take place during the evening of Thursday 4 September. |
