Media Release 3 July2008 Art and history enthusiasts will be able to admire the grandeur of castles that have inspired artists for centuries in a new exhibition in Barnstaple. The Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon will be displaying original works from collections of the Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM), Exeter, this summer as part of the Creative Castles exhibition which will run from Saturday 5 July until Saturday 30 August. Entry is free to the exhibition, which will be open from 9.30am until 5pm. There will be Intriguing displays which will combine fine art with captivating hands-on activities. Pictures will show how artists have captured images of a variety of castles in the south west from the 18th to the 20th century. With displays covering the natural and human history of this beautiful part of the country, The Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon is the perfect place to find out more about North Devon and is the perfect venue for this exhibition. Creative Castles is one of RAMM's touring exhibitions designed to maintain access to collections during the Museum redevelopment. RAMM's touring exhibitions include Global Gardeners, a display featuring Exeter's intrepid plant hunters, starting at Killerton House on 7 July, and Curious Curves, a history of exaggerated shapes in women's fashionable dress, currently at Saltram House in Plymouth. |
