Police in Dundee are appealing for information after a couple were robbed as they returned home yesterday morning (May 12). The 73-year-old man and 63-year-old woman were at their front door in Banchory Road at about 8.25am when a man pushed his way into their home and grabbed the woman's purse. He took money from the purse (a two-figure sum) and ran off along Banchory Road towards Balunie Avenue, leaving the couple shocked but unhurt. The thief is aged about 19 or 20-years-old. He's thin with short dark hair and spoke with an accent that wasn't Scottish. At the time he wore a thin smoke-grey jacket a blue T-shirt and navy tracksuit bottoms with stripes down the legs. Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage in the area and would appeal to anyone who saw this man to contact Tayside Police on 0845 600 5705. Police in Dundee are also looking for the public's help in trying to track down the vandals who spray painted graffiti onto playground equipment at Camperdown Park at the weekend. Children's play apparatus at the play park was targeted sometime between 7pm on Friday (May 9) and 10.45 on Sunday morning (May 11). Anyone with information that could assist enquiries should call 0845 600 5705. Officers in the city are also investigating a purse snatch in Milnbank Road shortly after 6pm on Sunday (May 11). A 30-year-old woman was outside Milnbank Works when a man rushed past her, grabbed her purse and ran off. He is described as being 20-23-years-old, five feet nine, slim, with an olive-coloured complexion, skinny face, dark eyes and short dark hair. At the time he wore a black baseball cap, dark hooded sports jacket (with elasticated waist), and dark Adidas-style tracksuit bottoms. The woman tried to follow her assailant and he was seen running into Lawrence Street, to Fyffe Street, into Polepark Road and then into Lochee Road before being lost to view. Elsewhere in Dundee, detectives are making enquiries into a break-in to a house in Invergowrie Drive, Menzieshill on Saturday. Little was taken as the thief was disturbed by the 85-year-old householder (male) returning home shortly after 1pm. The suspect is aged 27 to 29, five feet seven inches tall and was tanned, unshaven, with sharp features and short dark hair. At the time he wore black gloves, blue jeans, a grey blouson jacket, a dirty grey baseball cap, a red polo shirt and possibly white trainers. In an unconnected incident, a 38-year-old woman returned to her flat in Baldovan Terrace, between 5.10pm and 5.20pm, on Friday (May 9) and found a thief in her home.
He left when challenged and was last seen heading towards Albert Street having stolen a mobile phone and purse and contents (including two-figure sum of money) from the address. The householder was not hurt. The man is described as being aged 25-39-years-old, five feet ten inches tall, with short dark brown hair and a moustache. At the time he wore a light coloured (possibly grey) long sleeved shirt, a blue or black tie and navy trousers.
