City Of Ember - Film Review - 12-10-2008
|
City of Ember is the new children's /family film offering out at the moment. A city built underground, which was only meant to last 200 years, is slowly grinding to a halt due to a faltering generator. Unaware of the instructions, left by the last of mankind, the inhabitants are stuck believing themselves to have been abandoned. Two teenagers set out to see what lies beyond the city and get on the wrong side of the Mayor ( Bill Murray ) and the law that forbids people to leave the city. The two teenagers are are in a race against time to save the population of this doomed city. This could be classed as a children's version of the Indianna Jones movies and has a mixture of creepy crawlies, water rides and villains to keep the young ones interested. Children under 6 may well be a little bored as will anyone over 12. The story line is quite good and the accompanying adults won't have to suffer too much. So, all in all, a reasonable family film but nothing really special. |
