This time we have two summer comedies that have both just come out this week. Neither one can be classed as a summer blockbuster but they are ok for a little light entertainment. GET SMART Steve Carell plays a slightly inept " James Bond " spy, Max Smart who is chosen to complete a mission once the Identities of it's agents are compromised. The bumbling agent seems to be more danger to everyone around him but luckily his beautiful but deadly partner is nearby to keep him out of trouble. Basically this is an American attempt of poking fun at the James Bond films. Watch out for Richard Kiel ( Jaws in the Bond films) who plays a "Jaws" like goon. This film does have it's funny moments but they are few and far between and is certainly no better or funnier than the Rowan Atkinson film Johnny English but still worth a look. You Don't Mess With The Zohan
Adam Sandler plays Zohan who is an Israel Counter Terrorism Commander that is fed up of his job. So he decides to fake his death to become a hairdresser and live his dream in New York. He doesn't reckon on his past ever catching up with him. Adam Sandler completely hams up his part in the making of this film and makes it an over the top stupidly funny farce that Sandler fans will enjoy. There were some good laughs amongst the nonsense so worth a watch but leave your brain at home. |
