HellBoy 2 " The Golden Army" Hellboy 2 "The Golden Army" is the sequel to the 2004 Hellboy film. This time Hellboy is facing an indestructible army of army robots which can be commanded by the owner of a mythical crown. Hellboy has to come to terms with the fact that he might not be as popular as he would like to be amongst the humans as well as stopping the evil Nuada who is intent on awakening the "Golden Army" and releasing them onto the humans. Lots of action and comedy and this is one of those sequels that are as good as and possibly one step better than the original. The X-Files I Want To Believe I was looking forward to this as i did enjoy the series whilst Mulder & Scully where the main characters. This is set 6 years after they went their seperate ways and brings the two characters together to solve a missing persons case. Why this was made as an X Files story is beyond me as there is little connection to an x-files story except that Mulder & Scully are involved. Billy Connoly steals the film playing a Pedophile former priest who claims he is getting messages giving him clues as to the whereabouts of the missing person(s). If this were an episode it would be one of the weaker stories and would have been better going straight to video. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is a rather poor 3rd attempt at the Mummy stories. It has the action and a reasonable storyline and even keeps you interested in the film until the end but the humour of the first two films is just not there. Mario Bella plays the part of Rick o Conell's Wife and is very annoying throughout the whole film - a complete miscast which didn't do the film any favours whatsoever. Even Brendan Fraser looks a little tired of the role and the spirit of the first two movies is lost. I like most Jackie Chan films but they should have brought back Imoteph because Chan's portrail of the Mummy was just not menacing enough. This one is still worth a trip to the cinema, just don't go expecting a fantastic movie. The Love Guru
The Love Guru is just like every other Mike Myers movie - over the top stupidity. However this also makes it very funny in places. Mike Myers plays Guru Maurice Pitka, who is enlisted to save the love life of a star Hockey team player who finds he can't play whilst he is seperated from his wife. There are some great actors and actor/singers sending themselves up and are clearly enjoying themselves too. This makes the film easy to watch & enjoy despite the obvious silliness of the whole movie. If you don't get the chance to see this at the cinema it's definately worth a nights video rental. A must for all Mike Myers fans. |
