A glittering awards ceremony will set the scene for aspiring young movie makers to showcase their film making skills. Derbyshire County Council has been working in partnership with regional screen agency EM Media and the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies to co-ordinate the Cine Hub project, an innovative film making scheme. The project, that has been taking place in schools across the county, lets young people get involved in film production with professional film makers. Students will collect a Derbyshire DAFTA award for their original short films at a premiere at Cineworld in Chesterfield on July 2. These include films commissioned by Derbyshire County Council's trading standards which are designed to highlight the dangers of underage sales. Five education centres, each funded £1400 by the council, worked to create short films called Consequences. The films highlight the dangers of underage drinking and remind young people of the consequences of misusing alcohol and other age-restricted products such as tobacco, fireworks and solvents. The completed films may be used in a teaching resource pack for schools. These will be designed to raise awareness of how trading standards can help students recognise their rights and responsibilities as young consumers. Derbyshire County Council's cabinet member for community safety Clive Moesby said: "The students have been working hard, planning, directing and shooting their films. "The project has given them a great opportunity to work with professional filmmakers, work to detailed briefs and get creative with a serious message. "Underage sales are an ongoing concern to people and we are eager to tackle the problem in a variety of creative and positive ways." The Cine Hub project has been recognised for its unique approach and partnership working by the UK Film Council. The event at Cineworld will also be a celebration of its ongoing success. The five centres involved in the trading standards Consequences film project are: Holbrook Centre for Autism Wilsthorpe School, Long Eaton Bolsover School Friesland School, Sandiacre William Allitt, Swadlincote
