The Robots are coming!

2008 Fighting Robots featherweight UK Championships are coming to the Moorways Sports centre in Derby

This May bank holiday, prepare for the ultimate robot showdown! On Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 May 2008, a robot fighting team from Derby (‘Team Psycho Fling’) will join 40 of Europe’s most deadly ‘battle-bots’ at the Moorways Sports Centre in Derby to fight it out to decide who will be crowned the ultimate featherweight robot fighter. These lethal machines will create carnage in the bullet-proof Robo Challenge Arena, and with £500 at stake, the teams will be going all out to reach the top of the podium.

Audiences will see many stars from the hit TV show ‘Robot Wars’ as they compete for supremacy with their 13.6kg machines. Double World Champions ‘Razer’ will also be there as they perform their metal munching, TV crushing demonstrations! “We are really pleased to bring the championships to Derby and I can’t wait to see who takes home the trophy” says James Cooper from Robo Challenge. “With the Fighting Robots Association raising the weight limit for 2008 I am expecting to see some incredible new machines and for the battles to be more fierce than ever before!”

The Action doesn’t stop there. During the interval audiences can meet some of the expert roboteers by the pits area to get their autographs. Friends and families can also experience the thrill of being a real roboteer by taking control of the challenge bots and battling it out in the custom built arena!
