Perranporth Beach

Perranporth Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall and very popular as a family holiday destination.

With many campsites, caravan parks and holiday cottages around Perranporth, there are plenty of options for families to stay and enjoy this lovely area of Cornwall.

Perranporth beach is ideal for families as it is one of the lifeguarded beaches in Cornwall.  Please observe the instructions of the lifeguards, they are trying to keep you and your family safe and are not there to spoil your fun.

Perranporth Beach has some dangerous currents and the lifeguard’s instructions should be observed at all times.

At low tide, the beach is over two miles long and if you intend to walk it please be aware of the incoming tide.

When the tide is out, to the left of Chapel Rock, there are some great rock pools to explore and if you intend to climb over the rocks nearer the cliff face, just be aware that some parts of the cliff are unstable and there are a few signs warning of this.

Crossing the beach is the south west coast path and this can be accessed going east toward Penhale Sands and to the west past the youth hostel at Droskyn Point to the west of Chapel Rock.

The cliffs to the west of Chapel Rock are littered with old mine workings and sadly one young girl from Hampshire lost her life in one of the old workings.

Walking the path toward St Agnes from Perranporth is well worth the effort but please ensure children are kept safe as the costal path does have some sheer drops to the sea.

In Perranporth, there are plenty of places to eat and a few takeaways as well as Planet Ice, which sells a fabulous range of ice creams, coffee, cold drinks and teas.

Perranporth beach is not lifeguarded all year round and when the lifeguards are present, it is typically between the hours of 10.00am through to 6.00pm.
