Cornwall Parks and Gardens
Cornwall is a beautiful county in England, with a population of 531,600. Cornwall has so much to do, but it is also enjoyed for its amazing parks and gardens. Some of my favourite parks and gardens in Cornwall are:
Glendurgan Gardens - These beautiful gardens are just a few miles south west of Falmouth, nestled in a valley that sweeps down to Durgan village on the Helston River. The gardens feature many walks and the children will love the challenge of the maze as well as the rope swing. Emerging from the bottom of the gardens in to the village of Durgan, you can relax and watch the kids play on the beach and enjoy a picnic overlooking the river. Call 01326 250 906 for further information.
Trelissick Garden is located just outside of Truro on a wooded peninsula adjacent to the River Fal and the Carrick Roads. This garden features many colourful specimens and mature trees. The entire estate is encircled with woods full of wonderful walks and has a lovely park area where you can have a relaxing picnic. Call 01872 862 090 for further information.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan - were re-discovered in the 1990's and brought back to life through the sheer dedication of the owners. As with all gardens, they should be visited through the seasons to enjoy the spectacular array of colours that accompany the changes brought on by the seasonal changes. One of the great things about this garden is they grow their own produce which are used to great effect in their restaurant. Call 01726 845 100 for further information.
Trengwainton Garden is located near Penzance and has fabulous views across Mount's Bay to the Lizard. The walled garden contains many rare species that are hard to grow in open gardens anywhere in the country. Call 01736 363 148 for further information.
Morrab Gardens - These popular gardens are renowned for their beautiful, colourful flowers. The gardens are fabulous for peaceful long walks and are also a nice place to visit as a day out with the family. The children will be fascinated by nature's beauty whilst the adults can enjoy the tranquillity. The garden continues to improve, with plenty of new flowers. In the Morrab Gardens is a bandstand, which is used by various bands for concerts. Morrab Gardens has many beautiful features; however one of the main features is the fountain which is near the top area of the gardens.
Tehidy Country Park - This park is free to enter and will provide you with an exciting day out. This country park is also good for both long and short strolls, whether you are with a pet, or with a friend/family member, you'll have an extremely enjoyable walk. In Tehidy Country Park there are both cycling and walking trails. Tehidy Country Park also has a beautiful lake where there is a variety of wildlife. Tehidy Country Park has areas suitable for wheelchairs too, so no matter what your abilities you can thoroughly enjoy this country park.
Mount Edgcumbe Country Park - This country park is amazing for a family day out, or a day trip with friends. This park is extremely enjoyable and has so much to do. For the users of satellite navigation, the post code for Mount Edgcumbe Country Park is PL10 1HZ. The park has many features, some are - a deer wall, formal gardens, a barn pool and a harbour view seat. The formal gardens are over 200 years old, but are constantly being improved. For further information on the Mount Edgecumbe Country Park, call 01752 822 236 for further information.
These are just a few of the beautiful gardens in Cornwall.
Each park/garden has unique qualities and has something for everyone. These parks/gardens are amazing for family outings. The children will enjoy seeing different flowers and wildlife as well as enjoying the play areas and enjoying the company of others.
Cornwall is excellent for both long and short stays. When you visit Cornwall, I highly recommend taking a look at one of the many brilliant parks or gardens, if not more. For a fun filled day, why not stop at a few of the parks, instead of just staying in one area. This will spread the day out for both adults and children more. Additionally, you will feel as though you have done more with your day. Cornwall parks and gardens are definitely worth visiting.
