Find out more about our great home-based franchise.
Here we go with this months film reviews.
It'll be a slow start this month as i'm away for the first seven days and will need to catch up with the new Terminator film and one or two others when I get back.
As normal if you get to see any films and would like to express your thoughts on them, good or bad, then send it to david@citylocal.co.uk and i'll post them on here.
12 Rounds
01/06/09![]()
12 rounds is a fast paced action movie with lots of explosions and collisions to keep any action fan happy.
When New Orleans cop foils a million dollar heist the Mastermind theif, Miles Jackson is not too happy especially when his girlfriend is accidently killed.
1 year later Miles breaks out of jail and sets into motion a plan to get revenge.
This is advertised as a thriller but I would consider it to be an action cop movie with a twist but definately worth going to see.
If you enjoyed Speed and The Bourne Identity you'll love this.
Terminator Salvation
12/06/09![]()
Terminator Salvation stars Christian Bale as the adult John Connor just before he is hailed as the leader of the resistence and before they develop time travel.
When John and his wife pick up a wounded soldier who looks and thinks he's human the tide turns in their favour as they fight an ever losing battle with the array of machines and terminators constantly looking for the next human to destroy.
A terminator film without Arnie - Shocking!!!
Although Arnie is not present the film keeps up the pace and action of the terminator films and is worth going to see, especially if you enjoyed the first ones.
The Hangover
13/06/09
The hangover follows three guys who go off on a stag do to Vegas with their friend Doug to give him the send off of a lifetime.
Unfortunately after a night of fun and frolics and with the wedding less than 1 day away the three lads wake up in their hotel suite with no memory of the night before and Doug is no where to be found.
There is however a wrecked room, a tiger in the bathroom and a baby in the cupboard.
I really don't know what to say about this film except GO SEE IT. I found this to be the funniest film of the year so far.
When the story attempts a deliberate gag it just is not funny but the scrapes that the three lads get into as they attempt to retrace their steps of the previous night are just hilarious.
Mike Tyson cameo's as himself in the film too.
The Last House On The Left
22/06/09![]()
Wes Craven directs another shocker with lots of torture and brutality.
The film begs the question of :
What would you do if your daughter was raped, tortured and left for dead and you found out that the perpertrators seeked refuge at your house from the weather ?
I'm sure you can imagine what Wes Cravens answer to this question is and where he takes it from there.
The rape scene is quite harrowing in order to drive the message accross.
If you enjoy your horror/shock gendre of films get to see it now as this one won't be around for much longer as I was quite late seeing it.
Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen
23/06/09![]()
If you enjoyed the first film you will love this one too.
The humour from the robotic aliens is very funny and there's plenty of action and special effects throughout as the good robots try and stop the decepticons from taking over the earth again.
The question is who can survive the wrath of the fallen. Be prepared for a shock or two.
This is one of the summer blockbusters that all the family can enjoy.
