Staff at Chesterfield's new state-of-the-art £8m Healthy Living Centre broke out the bubbly to celebrate its 1,000th new member.
There has been a constant stream of customers signing up ever since the Centre, in the heart of Staveley, opened its doors earlier this month (March 10).
And last week, in only its third week of operations, the centre broke through the 1,000 barrier for new members.
Paul Davey, aged 23, from Ashgate became number 1,000 when he and girlfriend Lisa Wilkins, 22, from Inkersall, signed up on the Centre's monthly direct debit membership scheme.
They are pictured with Healthy Lifestyle manager Jonathan Pickess (left) and Centre manager Lee Allcock (right), toasting the continued success of the Borough Council's investment in healthy living for local people.
Cllr Keith Morgan, the Borough's Lead Member for Healthy Communities and Leisure, said: "We are on target for new memberships and the feedback we have received on the new facility has been overwhelmingly positive.
"Customers tell us they love it!"
The Healthy Living Centre has a 150-station gym, two dance studios, health spa, 25-metre swimming pool, 10-metre high climbing wall, Pirate themed soft play arena, crèche and meeting rooms. A Starbucks-style coffee bar will be open within the new few weeks.
The building is air conditioned throughout with free car parking for customers and has impressive "Green" credentials, being packed full of energy-saving features which make it a flagship for Chesterfield Borough Council's conservation credentials.
A brochure of the Healthy Living Centre can be downloaded as a pdf from the Council's website, http://www.chesterfield.gov.uk/. Anyone interested in joining, or requiring further information, should contact the Centre on 01246 345666.
