Brighton & Hove City Council Leader, Councillor Mary Mears, joined city street sweepers, graffiti busters and litter pickers in a major clean-up operation in London Road. Mary took her place on the front line with staff from the council's Cityclean refuse and recycling service, who were embarking on a deep clean of one of the city's busiest shopping streets. In addition to the daily street sweeping and litter picking on London Road, yesterday's clean-up saw pavements jet-washed, graffiti wiped out, verges weeded and streets swept. It is all part of a joint initiative, between the city council, police and traders to improve the London Road shopping area, tackle crime and increase community safety. Councillor Mears said: "Everyone is working together to improve London Road and our crews have had enthusiastic." News Source: Brighton & Hove City Council |
