Sussex fight back at Scarborough - 05-09-2008
|
Yorkshire trail by 132 runs with 3 wickets remaining in the 1st innings Sussex are in a strong position at close of play on the second day of their LV County Championship clash with Yorkshire at Scarborough.
Resuming on 203 for 4, Sussex lost quick wickets this morning and were duly bowled out for just 265. A disappointing total having been in such a strong position.
Andrew Hodd made an impressive 81, but no one stuck around, as the last five wickets fell for just 28 runs. Ollie Rayner finished 15 not out.
It was Adil Rashid who did the damage, with his leg spin, taking 4 for 56 from 19 overs.
Sussex immediately fought back with the ball, however, and consistently took wickets throughout the afternoon and evening sessions to leave the hosts on 133 for 7 at close.
Jason Lewry was the pick of the bowlers in picking up 3 for 27. Robin Martin-Jenkins bowled economically and his persistence paid off, as he bagged 2 for 11 off 7 overs. Corey Collymore and Ollie Rayner both picked up a wicket a piece, but debutant Mohammad Sami could not manage a wicket.
Yorkshire, therefore, are still 132 runs behind, with just 3 first innings wickets remaining. |
